Job summary

Strata Clean Energy is seeking a Project Engineer to manage engineering budgets, schedules, and deliverables for solar and storage projects. You will coordinate design with internal teams and external parties, ensuring timely, accurate information and successful project outcomes.

The role requires a BS in an engineering field (ABET preferred), 4+ years of experience, and strong communication and budgeting skills to support interconnection agreements, PPAs, and vendor interfaces.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university strongly preferred; other STEM degrees may be considered with relevant experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with the design of utility scale PV solar and BESS projects.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting information to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design activities with both external parties and internal personnel to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information.
  • Understand the terms of interconnection agreement, PPA and Prime Agreement as it impacts engineering activities and deliverables.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the engineering team assigned to a project.
  • Support regular meetings with project teams and clients to ensure technical clarifications are provided and to communicate status of engineering activities.
  • Interface with various vendors to meet technical requirements of the project.
  • Develop and maintain engineering budgets that cover all design disciplines and include internal labor and subcontracted costs.
  • Assist with the development of engineering scopes of work for use in administering external design RFPs.
  • Track engineering subcontractor invoices and internal labor hours throughout project.
  • Manage file sharing of technical documentation for internal departments and subcontractors, including design specifications, tracking of submittals, publication of drawings, and collection of record/close-out documentation.
  • Manage field RFIs and ensure prompt response to all RFIs related to project design.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university strongly preferred. Other STEM related degrees may be considered when coupled with relevant experience
  • Minimum four (4) years relevant work experience
  • Experience with the design of utility scale PV solar and BESS projects
  • Strong time management and analytical skills

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Work is performed primarily in the office. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift up to 20 pounds. May be exposed to weather elements when in the field. Limited out of town travel may be required, estimated at less than 10%
