Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Project Engineer in Denver to drive financial accuracy and project success. You will track cost data, monitor resources, and apply construction know-how to keep projects on budget and on schedule.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and specs, managing RFIs, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring safe, compliant work environments while reporting progress to owners and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of construction engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with cost accounting and basic estimating is a plus.
  • Specialized knowledge of design-build or alternative build methods.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, design specs, material requirements, and project data.
  • Provide technical input for the project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify budget and schedule risks that could impact cost or timing.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan and communicate changes to mitigate delays.
  • Initiate and manage RFIs.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using cost coding for reporting.
  • Coordinate invoicing with accounting for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Review certificates, permits, and JHAs for safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, scheduling, and crews.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Job description

Overview

Ready to drive financial accuracy and project success? As a Project Engineer, you will track and analyze cost data, ensuring our projects stay on budget. Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

What you will be doing
  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
  • Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
  • Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
  • Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
  • Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
  • Specialized, technical knowledge of design build or other alternative build techniques.
  • Able to delegate and assign work to engineering team to progress the project production forward.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
  • Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
