Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp in Dayton, OH is seeking a Project Engineer to drive cost data analysis and project performance. You will monitor resources, track budgets, and help keep complex Advanced Technology/Data Center projects on schedule and within scope.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in construction engineering, with knowledge of cost accounting, design-build methods, and QA practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Meet with engineering and field crews to review schedule and confirm materials and resources.
• Review shop drawings, specifications, material requirements and project data.
• Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling.
• Identify budget and schedule risks and mitigation options.
• Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections.
• Update project schedule weekly for reporting to owner/management.
• Prepare and manage a three-week work plan; notify of significant changes and mitigate delays.
• Initiate and manage RFIs.
• Remit accurate project quantities using cost codes for reporting.
• Manage invoicing with accounting for materials and subcontractor needs.
• Review certificates and permits required for work.
• Review Job Hazard Analyses to ensure safety/compliance.
• Coordinate subcontractor work methods and crews as needed.

Overview

Ready to drive financial accuracy and project success? As a Project Engineer, you will track and analyze cost data, ensuring our projects stay on budget. Your expertise in resource monitoring and control, combined with your construction knowledge, will keep our projects running smoothly and efficiently.

This is a full-time position supporting an Advanced Technology project, which includes out Data Center market segments.

What you will be doing

• Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
• Review all shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
• Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
• Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
• Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
• Update project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
• Prepare and manage a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of any significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost.
• Initiate and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Remit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
• Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
• Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
• Review required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel.
• Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• 5+ years construction engineering experience.
• Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating) and construction technology, process systems and/or structures preferred.
• Specialized, technical knowledge of design build or other alternative build techniques.
• Able to delegate and assign work to engineering team to progress the project production forward.
• Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
• Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate project delays.
• Knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking methods and cost coding.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
