Job summary

Core CMCI in Dallas, Texas seeks an experienced Project Engineer to be a key member of the project team on commercial construction ventures across higher education, convention centers, municipalities, K-12, healthcare, arenas, transportation, and retail. The role emphasizes building the project “on paper” and coordinating with the project manager and owner representatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in construction administration/management
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction administration, construction management, engineering or similar
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Uses BIM and LEAN technologies in project work
  • Reads and interprets contract documents, drawings, specs, scopes and schedules
  • Demonstrates leadership and strong interpersonal skills
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent site presence

Responsibilities

  • Manage information needed to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Serve as the link between architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and owner representatives
  • Assist in managing the project budget and submittal process
  • Ensure drawings/specifications align with estimates and contract documents
  • Close-out: prepare RFIs, warranties, O&Ms, as-builts and spare parts records
  • Develop scope of work for trades and prepare Change Order analyses

We are looking for an Project Engineer who will be a critical project team member.

  • Minimum Years Experience: 5-6 years
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in construction administration, construction management, engineering or similar
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and LEAN
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities
  • Position Description: Manage, evaluate and assess information necessary to construct the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified by the contract documents
  • The Engineer is the individual on the project responsible for building the overall project "on paper"
  • Reports to: Project Manager or Project Executive
  • Acting as liaison with Architects, Subcontractors, Consultants, Suppliers, Inspectors and other Turner job staff and Owner's Representatives in resolving issues related to plans and specifications
  • Overseeing and making decisions related to contract drawings and subcontract information
  • Ensuring that all drawings and specifications properly relate to the estimate
  • Supporting the Project Manager with managing the project budget
  • Managing submittals and shop drawings
  • Assessing conformance to contract specifications
  • Resolving any conflicts in interpretation
  • Negotiating Change Orders
  • Managing information on changes in the Work; preparing an independent analysis, as require; obtaining and checking estimates for the changes from subcontractor; obtaining approval of the Architect and Owner; and resolving any conflicts
  • Overseeing the close-out process
  • Preparing final records for the project such as Requests for Information (RFI's), close-out records, warranties, as-builts, Operations and Maintenance manuals (O&Ms), attic stock, and spare parts, and evaluating information to ensure compliance with contract documents
  • Preparing Scope of Work documents for trades
  • Developing reports such as General Conditions Items, labor, safety, Change Order logs and Quality Control
  • Scheduling and managing subcontractor trade coordination meetings, preconstruction meetings and submittal review meetings

  • Regular site visits to project sites is required
