Job summary

Allan Myers Inc. is seeking an on-site Project Engineer to support heavy civil construction projects. You will collaborate with the Project Team to plan and execute tasks to meet deadlines and maintain safety standards at the regional office.

The role requires coordinating with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Purchasing; strong problem solving, planning, and communication skills are essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is required, OSHA 30-hour

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in construction management (heavy civil preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required.
  • FE certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost, change order management, planning and scheduling, safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plans and schedules with the Project Manager and Superintendent to meet project goals.
  • Interpret drawings, specs, and technical information for the project team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Order and coordinate delivery of permanent materials with Purchasing; finalize POs and subcontracts on time and cost-effectively.
  • Manage RFI and submittal process; maintain project control logs in CMiC.
  • Process owner billings and project accounting tasks.
  • Assist PM with Change Orders and related documentation.
  • Monitor all work for safety compliance with Safety Manager and review schedule for safety measures.

Responsibilities

Allan Myers is looking for an eager, hard‑working, goal‑driven Project Engineer who is passionate about the heavy civil construction industry. The position collaborates with the Project Team to plan and support the completion of assigned construction engineering projects, ensuring the plan moves forward to meet anticipated deadlines. The role is on‑site and requires working from the regional office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Problem solves with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop effective plans and schedules for constructing the project and determine the means and methods necessary to meet project goals.
  • Interprets drawings, specifications and technical information and disseminates to the Project Team, subcontractors, vendors and consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design details.
  • Identifies, orders and coordinates delivery of permanent materials such as pipe, stone, reinforcing steel and beams. Works with the Project Team and Purchasing Department to ensure that all required purchase orders and subcontracts are finalized in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
  • Manages the RFI and submittal process, including establishment and maintenance of project control logs in CMiC.
  • Processes owner billings and project related accounting tasks.
  • Assists Project Manager with development of Change Orders and related documentation.
  • Monitors all work, including subcontractors, for safety compliance in conjunction with the Safety Manager. Maintains project safety files and reviews the project schedule for activities requiring special safety measures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a construction management (estimating, operations and/or engineering) role. Heavy civil experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, a related major or equivalent required. Continuing education in construction is highly desirable.
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification required.
  • FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred.
  • Must possess working knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost management, change order management, labor & equipment reporting, planning and scheduling, preconstruction planning, safety policies and procedures, and safe work procedures.
