Job summary

HGC Construction is seeking a Project Engineer who takes pride in organization, collaboration, and building projects the right way.   • Monitor schedules and budgets to support on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and teams.
  • Support site activities ensuring safety, quality, and specs.

  • Maintain project documentation and meeting minutes.
  • Assist in identifying risks and mitigation strategies.

HGC Construction is looking for a Project Engineer who takes pride in organization, collaboration, and building projects the right way. As part of our team, you’ll support the planning and execution of construction projects from start to finish, working closely with Project Managers, superintendents, and trade partners. You’ll play a hands‑on role in coordinating information, tracking progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards—all within a supportive environment that values growth and mentorship.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets to support on‑time and on‑budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure effective execution.
  • Support site activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing project proposals, contracts, and change orders.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment needed for project completion.
  • Maintain communication with clients, providing progress updates and addressing concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, schedules, and meeting minutes.
  • Assist in resolving project‑related issues and conflicts in the field.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and confirm adherence to design requirements.
  • Support management of subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely, quality work.
  • Assist in identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Promote and support adherence to all safety protocols on the job site.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates and insights on progress and challenges.
  • Assist with project closeout and evaluation to ensure quality and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience in construction project management or related role, including co‑ops and internships.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project or Procore.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, cost estimation, and financial management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in construction.
