Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Avon Lake, OH, is seeking a Project Engineer to lead high-impact capital projects that enhance safety, reliability, and plant performance. You will partner with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and HSES to transform ideas into operational results in a manufacturing setting.

The role emphasizes managing scope, budgets, and schedules while embedding Process Safety Management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Five or more years leading capital projects in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial environments.
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management requirements and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects from concept through startup, defining scope, schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Manage design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Integrate PSM, health, safety, environmental, and security requirements into project design and execution.
  • Incorporate continuous improvement, energy efficiency, and reliability initiatives into project solutions.
  • Serve as technical lead for assigned projects, developing engineering designs and construction packages.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect safety, schedule, cost.
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges and support handover to operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead capital projects from concept through startup, defining scope, engineering strategy, schedules, budgets, and execution plans while aligning key stakeholders.
  • Manage engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Integrate Process Safety Management (PSM), health, safety, environmental, and security requirements into project design and execution to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Incorporate continuous improvement, energy efficiency, and equipment reliability initiatives into project solutions.
  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned projects by developing and approving engineering designs, equipment specifications, and construction packages.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to achieve projectobjectives.
  • Identifyproject risks and implement mitigation strategies that protect safety, schedule, cost, and business continuity.
  • Provide technicalexpertiseto resolve complex engineering challenges and support successful projecthandover tooperations.
Required Qualifications that Enable Your Success
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ora relatedengineering discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience leading capital projects, project engineering, or project management initiatives in manufacturing, chemical processing, or industrial environments.
  • Proven success managing projects from concept development through design, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, Process Safety Management requirements, industry codes, and regulatory compliance within industrial operations.
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, contractors, and stakeholder communications.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and design packages developed withAutoDeskor similar engineering software.
  • Proficiencywith SAP, Microsoft Office applications, and document management systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications that Drive You Forward
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience leading capital projects within chemical manufacturing, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, consumer products, or other process manufacturing environments.
