Fluence is seeking a Project Director to lead a team of Project Managers across multiple complex Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the Americas. The role requires strategic leadership, financial oversight, and risk management to ensure successful project delivery.

You will collaborate with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning teams, driving profitability and customer satisfaction while staying aligned with business priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
• 12+ years of project management experience with P&L responsibility.
• 3+ years of experience managing complex EPC projects.
• PMP certification is a plus.

• Lead strategic planning, management, and execution of multiple complex BESS projects.
• Direct Project Managers, ensuring resource allocation and accountability for successful delivery.
• Oversee EPC project execution across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning.

• Monitor financial performance, manage risks, and push for profitability and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Job Description

The Project Director is responsible for leading a team of Project Managers and overseeing the successful execution of multiple complex Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the Americas.

This role provides strategic leadership, drives financial and operational performance, manages project risks, and builds strong customer relationships to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

The Project Director works closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project objectives, contractual requirements, and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning, management, and execution of multiple complex BESS projects.
• Manage and provide direction to Project Managers, ensuring appropriate resource allocation, accountability, and successful project delivery.
• Oversee the execution of complex Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
• Provide leadership across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and business operations.
• Monitor project financial performance, manage risks, and drive improvements in profitability and operational efficiency.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee project planning, execution strategies, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Ensure project plans, milestones, changes, and deliverables are documented and communicated effectively.
• Identify and resolve project challenges, escalations, and risks to support successful execution.
• Ensure compliance with established business processes, reporting requirements, and project execution standards.
• Collaborate with Sales to support new business opportunities and future project development.
• Lead business improvement initiatives to strengthen project performance and operational effectiveness.
• Promote continuous improvement by documenting and sharing lessons learned across projects.
• Travel approximately 30% as required to support project execution, customer meetings, and site activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant industry experience.
• Minimum 12 years of project management experience with P&L responsibility.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing complex EPC projects.
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of project planning, execution, financial management, and risk mitigation.
• Proven leadership, collaboration, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Strong business acumen and ability to drive project financial and operational performance.
• Experience managing customer relationships and coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a global, matrixed organization.
• Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
