Job description

The Development Associate plays a key role in advancing projects from early-stage evaluation through late-stage development. This role bridges technical, commercial, regulatory, and community-facing workstreams, managing the day-to-day activities required to move projects forward while supporting senior leadership on major decisions.

The ideal candidate brings strong project coordination skills, comfort working across multiple disciplines, and the ability to engage effectively with landowners, consultants, utilities, and regulatory agencies. This position is highly hands‑on and detail-oriented, with responsibility for maintaining project schedules and budgets, permitting progress, and risk tracking.

This role ensures that projects meet critical milestones and remain commercially and technically viable, helping drive the successful development of a wind energy portfolio.

Responsibilities
  • Project Development: Support the development of wind energy projects from initial concept through commercial operation, including site identification, resource assessment, land acquisition, and feasibility studies.
  • Permitting and Compliance: Support the permitting process, ensuring all necessary environmental and regulatory approvals are obtained. Work closely with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Address concerns and negotiate agreements as necessary.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial modeling and analysis to evaluate the economic viability of projects. Prepare investment proposals and support project financing.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Technical Evaluation: Evaluate the technical aspects of project development, including wind resource assessment, interconnection studies, and engineering design.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with project development. Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, financial performance, and key milestones.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with wind project development and key drivers of schedule and cost.
  • 1–5 years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project finance preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in Excel and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy and sustainability.
