Job summary

A leading utility-scale energy storage company in New York is seeking a Development Associate to help with the development of multiple utility scale energy storage projects throughout the Eastern US. Responsibilities include project cycle assistance, engagement with landowners, and conducting due diligence. The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in a relevant field and a proven record of achieving site control for infrastructure projects. Qualifications

  • Proven track record of obtaining site control for 5+ infrastructure projects.
  • Comfort contacting various landowners including individuals and corporations.
  • No renewable energy industry experience necessary.
  • Extremely high attention to detail and ability to produce error-free documents.
  • Experience using GIS based tools or Google Earth.

Responsibilities

  • Assist regional developers throughout the project development cycle.
  • Prepare purchase-option and lease documents using company templates.
  • Engage in cold-calling landowners and negotiate purchase options.
  • Conduct due diligence tasks including site visits and desktop research.
  • Manage project budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Maintain project timelines and records.
  • Secure easements as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of the development pipeline and key performance metrics.

Since its inception in 2022, GCI has achieved substantial growth, currently spearheading the development of over 1.7 GW of energy storage projects in various stages across diverse markets throughout the United States. We are committed to pioneering sustainable solutions in the energy sector and are now seeking passionate and qualified individuals to join our dynamic team.

This position is responsible for supporting the development of multiple utility scale energy storage projects throughout the Eastern US from origination through NTP, with a primary focus on due‑diligence, achieving site‑control and permitting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist regional developers throughout the project development cycle.

Prepare error‑free purchase‑option and lease documents using company templates.

Engage in cold‑calling landowners and negotiating purchase options.

Maintain ongoing communication with landowners during the development process.

Conduct due diligence tasks, including desktop research and site visits.

Visit points of interconnection and related parcels for in‑person site assessments and landowner engagement.

Secure easements as needed.

Maintain accurate records of the development pipeline and key performance metrics.

Manage project budgets and financial forecasts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain project timelines, records, and other due diligence data.

Regulatory monitoring & market research.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

BA/BS Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.

Proven track record of successfully obtaining site control for 5+ infrastructure projects or similar (distribution center, datacenter, solar, etc) experience.

Ability and comfort contacting a wide variety of landowners (including individuals, sole‑proprietors, and corporate real estate departments).

Extremely high attention to detail, analytical problem‑solving skills, and ability to produce error‑free documents.

Ability to use GIS based tools / Google Earth.

No renewable energy industry experience necessary.

High tolerance for failure and drive to succeed.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in an office environment.

Ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.

Ability and willingness to travel (up to 20%)
