Qualifications

• 3+ years of design engineering experience, preferably in water resources.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Interest in asset planning, water/wastewater system master planning, hydraulic modeling, or related areas.
• Knowledge of water resources industry, regulatory environment; GIS and hydraulic modeling a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct water and wastewater system planning and evaluations.
• Prepare strategic planning studies using hydraulic modeling.
• Support engineering initiatives and asset management.
• Assess system capacity, asset condition, and operational efficiency; recommend improvements.
• Support in system capacity evaluations and analyses of deficiencies to support operations or growth.
• Support initiatives by Engineering Directors, including field project work and asset management.

Van Cleef Engineering Associates, LLC (Van Cleef) is a dynamic, multi‑disciplined consulting civil engineering firm that employs engineers, certified inspectors, landscape architects, planners, and land surveyors. With offices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we provide expertise in civil engineering, municipal engineering, municipal planning, and land surveying.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic long‑term water and wastewater system planning, including recommending projects or approaches to address needs related to source of supply, treatment, storage, pumping, and transmission of water and wastewater.
• Conducting or reviewing water and wastewater system capacity and service evaluations associated with service extension projects or other potential service growth opportunities using computerized hydraulic models.
• Assisting senior staff to provide input and prepare strategic water and wastewater system planning studies (comprehensive or targeted issue‑based studies) using computerized hydraulic modeling.
• Assessing system capacity, asset condition, facility performance, resiliency level, and operational efficiency, and recommending associated improvements.
• Providing support in system capacity evaluations, analysis of source, production, distribution, storage, or other system deficiencies as assigned to support ongoing operations, service extension requests, or regional growth opportunities.
• Supporting engineering initiatives established by the Engineering Directors (e.g., asset management or other operational excellence initiatives) including involvement in field project work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of design engineering experience, preferably in water resources planning or engineering.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Desire to develop competency in asset planning, water and wastewater system comprehensive master planning, distribution system hydraulic modeling, or equivalent experience.
• Applicable knowledge of water resources industry, business, and environmental regulatory field.
• GIS and hydraulic modeling experience is a plus.
