Job summary

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Project Designer II in New York, NY. You will contribute to the design of mixed-use developments, support construction documents, and collaborate across the design team to ensure design intent and program requirements are met.

The role requires a degree in architecture or related field and 6+ years of experience, with proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and visualization tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.
• Licensure as a registered architect preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with generating original design concepts and design deliverables, including preliminary design documentation, conceptual plans and elevations, 3D renderings, and exhibits.
• Collaborate with architectural and design staff on projects of various types and scales.
• Coordinate project deliverables with external consultants and project partners.
• Contribute to QA/QC reviews of design deliverables and architectural construction documents.
• Support production of project specifications and research materials.
• Contribute to the execution of RFP/RFQ responses and marketing proposals.
• Support efforts to build and sustain a design culture and adhere to design rigor standards.
• Ensure timely work aligned with project schedules and budgets.

Overview

MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is looking for a talented Project Designer II to join our Community Environments Market team in New York, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design of dynamic mixed-use developments, creating healthy, thriving communities that bring people together and shape the future of urban living.

Project Designers play a vital role in bringing bold ideas to life, contributing to the development of innovative design solutions for new construction projects and major renovations. As key members of the design team, they actively participate in every phase of the project lifecycle, from concept development through construction. Successful candidates are creative thinkers and effective communicators who can clearly express ideas both visually and verbally while supporting the production of construction documents and other critical deliverables. Their contributions help ensure design excellence, project continuity, and a seamless transition from vision to reality.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the generation of original design concepts and completion of design deliverables including preliminary design documentation, conceptual plans and elevations, 3D renderings, and exhibits. Primary focus is ensuring accurate and comprehensive design documentation.
• Works collaboratively with architectural and design staff on projects of various types and scale. This includes a detailed understanding of how jurisdictional requirements, client standards, constructability, and programmatic guidelines impact and inform concept designs.
• Possesses a working knowledge of architectural construction documents. Assists with various production level efforts as needed, including consultant design integration.
• Coordinates project deliverables with external consultants and project partners.
• Conducts design research from a wide variety of benchmarking sources for ideation and provide detailed design documentation to architectural project teams.
• Actively contributes to QA/QC reviews of design deliverables and architectural construction documents to ensure design intent is maintained throughout all project phases.
• Assists with generating project specifications as needed. Performs relevant research of building products and materials and coordinates with Interior Designers as required.
• Contributes to the execution of Construction Administration procedures including review of design related RFIs and project submittals.
• Contributes to the production of design deliverables used in RFP/RFQ responses and marketing proposals.
• Actively participates in efforts to build and support a design culture at MG2, including adherence to design rigor standards and processes.
• Produces accurate and timely work in accordance with the project schedules and workplans. Work should demonstrate understanding of design intent and comprehension of project budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in a professional architecture or design firm.
• Certification as a licensed professional preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in design production and 3D visualization.
• Understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
• Proficiency with Revit, Sketch-Up, Auto-CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Affinity, VRay and Enscape.
• Experience selecting both interior and exterior materials.
• Experience with sustainable material sourcing and documentation of embodied carbon preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
