Job summary

Popli Design Group (PDG) is seeking a Project Engineer to join our structural design team in New York. You will develop and oversee structural analysis models, prepare drawing packages in Revit and AutoCAD, and coordinate with clients and agencies to secure approvals.

Ideal candidates have a BS/MS in Civil Engineering, 6–10 years of experience, and a NYS PE license. Proficiency in STAAD Pro, RAM Elements, Revit, BIM, and MEP coordination is required. Travel within NYS may be required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on structural engineering.
• NYS Professional Engineer license is required.
• 6-10 years of relevant experience in structural design.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop and/or oversee the development of structural analysis models and calculation packages to support the structural design of various structure types.
• Delegate and/or assign design tasks to junior staff to support the structural design of various structure types.
• Oversee and assist in the preparation of comprehensive drawing packages using Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, etc.
• Oversee and assist in the development and review of technical engineering documents, design plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering work by others in accordance with company, industry, and/or client design standards.
• Coordinate with internal or external project staff, clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project and acquire all necessary approvals.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record for designs performed under ones direct supervision.
• May be required to travel within New York State for project design investigations and/or construction support oversight.

Requirements

• Experience with Bentley structural engineering analysis software such as STAAD Pro, RAM Elements, or similar.
• Proven experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, Mathcad, Bluebeam, spreadsheet tools, etc.
• Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
• Proven organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required.
• Proven ability to progress technical concepts from inception through final design with minimum oversight on an array of structural analysis and design projects.
• Proven ability to lead small design teams and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines.
• Desire to learn and embrace technology to improve workflows and internal design process.
• Ability and enthusiasm to work in a collaborative office setting.
• Desire to embrace and adhere to the PDG Quality culture in all aspects of design including the ability to perform independent design review and provide design peer reviews to ensure quality measurements are met.
• Understand basic safety requirements and motivation to uphold PDG safety culture.
  

Experience, Education, And Certification

• BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering (including structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design).
• CPESC, LEED AP, and/or ENV SP certification a plus.
• Experience with K-12, Higher Ed, Healthcare, and State and local municipality projects
• 6-10 years of experience.
• NYS PE Licensed Required
• A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
  

Work Environment

• Professional in-office environment
• Occasional work outside of the office at project sites
• Travels occasionally within NY State and surrounding areas
• Interacts primarily with other PDG personnel and PDG Clients
• Receives supervision, training, and mentoring from the Structural Design Manager
  

Physical Demands

This job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
