Job summary

RK&K is seeking an senior transportation engineering and planning leader to build and manage a Delaware team, expanding our practice in the region. You will work with firm leadership to pursue client needs, connect them with our technical experts, and deliver innovative solutions.

You will mentor staff and help shape regional strategy. You will engage with clients and agencies, manage project scopes and budgets, and contribute to RK&K’s reputation as trusted advisers in transportation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Delaware or ability to obtain reciprocity.
• 15+ years of engineering services experience with business development and project delivery in Delaware or surrounding region.
• Active involvement in professional engineering/construction societies.
• Strong ability to articulate ideas visually and contextually, with excellent technical and proposal writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent RK&K with clients on design, construction, and maintenance projects.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop business strategies.
• Deliver and support transportation engineering and planning projects regionally.
• Interface with clients, agencies, and sub-consultants to pursue, win, and execute projects.
• Identify project opportunities through networking with state, regional, and local agencies.
• Negotiate scopes, schedules, and budgets across various projects.
• Mentor staff and conduct performance evaluations.

As a member of our elite Executive team, you will have the opportunity to build and manage a team of professionals in Delaware, and as part of our broader regional team. Working with the support of our leadership, your focus will be to expand our practice in Delaware. Connecting client needs with innovative and creative solutions developed by our technical experts, leading project teams composed of staff throughout the firm in delivering these solutions and establishing RK&K as trusted advisers in transportation engineering and planning.

Essential Functions

• Represent RK&K in front of existing and potential clients on all aspects of design, construction and maintenance projects
• Work with our firm leadership and local team to develop business strategies
• Deliver and support transportation engineering and planning projects and tasks throughout the region and across the firm
• Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and sub-consultant partners to pursue, win, and execute projects
• Identify and create project opportunities by networking with potential clients, primarily state, regional and local agencies
• Negotiate and manage project scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for a variety of projects
• Mentor staff by training employees, establishing personal growth opportunities and conducting performance evaluations

Required Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in Delaware or ability to obtain reciprocity
• Fifteen (15)+ years of experience in engineering services with progressive responsibilities including business development and project delivery in Delaware or the surrounding region
• Be highly engaged in professional engineering/construction societies, regularly attending local meetings especially those with high levels of client participation
• Capacity to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually, including strong technical and proposal writing skills

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Business Administration or similar
