Job summary

HDR is seeking a Minnesota and Wisconsin Building Engineering Services Project Delivery Leader to manage and mentor multi-discipline project delivery teams. You will promote project management best practices, oversee quality, and streamline processes across the area while collaborating with leaders and staff.

This role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and delivering profitable facility projects. You will report to the BES Business Group Manager and work within HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years related experience.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office, estimating and scheduling software and project management software.
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Promote, monitor, and develop project management skills and quality best practices for BES staff across the Area.
  • Provide project management team organization and leadership for projects across the BG.
  • Monitor QC Review activities and assign reviewers.
  • Lead continuous improvement of Project Management standards, procedures and lessons learned.
  • Lead QA/QC program activities and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with BG leadership, operations, sectors, and professional services leaders.
  • Manage MOA responsibilities and coordinate business processes with the BGM.
  • Assist with daily operations, project oversight, financials and profitability at the project level.
  • Develop and implement standard project delivery practices and approaches.
  • Participate in reviews and support project teams with claims management.
  • Track financials and coordinate work with project teams to stay within budget and schedule.

Minnesota and Wisconsin Building Engineering Service Project Delivery Leader

HDR has an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced professional to serve in a leadership position as the Minnesota and Wisconsin Building Engineering Services (BES) Project Delivery Leader (PDL). As PDL, you will report to the Minnesota and Wisconsin Area BES Business Group Manager (BGM) and work alongside the BGM to provide and promote consistent project management processes, quality and oversight of project delivery across the Business Group (BG).

As PDL, you will collaborate closely with BG leadership to promote and advance project management skills development, career path development, and mentorship of BG staff. Your direct reports may include local program managers, project managers, commercial managers, and collaborative delivery leads. In addition to your primary responsibilities as summarized below, the PDL will be responsible for understanding and having direct knowledge of the HDR project management tools and collaborating, training, and mentoring staff on their implementation and use. You will also support recruiting and retention efforts for the program.

In the role of BES Project Delivery Leader, we will count on you to:
  • Promote, monitor, and develop project management skills and quality best practices for BES staff across the Area
  • Provide project management team organization and leadership for projects across the BG
  • Monitor project QC Review activities including assignment of experienced and qualified reviewers
  • Lead and monitor activities for continuous improvement of Project Management including development and use of technical standards, procedures, best practices and lessons learned
  • Lead quality assurance efforts to implement QA/QC Program activities, striving for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate effectively with BG operations, market leadership / sectors, business classes, and Professional Services Leaders
  • Perform delegated matrix of authority (MOA) responsibilities from BGM
  • Work with Business Group Manager to streamline and coordinate business processes consistent with the overall Area, corporate policy, and MOA
  • Assist with daily operations, such as project oversight, management reviews, financials and driving profitability at the project level
  • Develop and implement standard project delivery practices, procedures, and approaches
  • Participate in 0% reviews, project reviews, and support project teams with management of claims and losses
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with project teams to verify that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience developing, managing, and leading multi-discipline project delivery teams
  • Proven history of delivering high quality, profitable and successful facility projects
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with systems and PM tools for effective project management and delivery. Extensive industry experience in delivering facility projects across market sectors
  • Demonstrated experience with managing and leading diverse teams. Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and related professional experience
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
