Job summary

Deloitte is seeking a Project- Analytics and Insights Engineer I to analyze large Medicaid claim datasets, build SQL queries, and develop dashboards (Tableau/Power BI/Databricks) to surface risk indicators.

You will collaborate with program integrity and analytics teams, focusing on identifying fraud, waste, and abuse patterns while co-locating in Des Moines, IA, five days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large volumes of medical claims to uncover billing anomalies and potential improper payments.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze Medicaid datasets.
  • Work with medical claims data including DRGs, UB-04, CMS-1500; apply ICD, CPT, HCPCS coding knowledge.
  • Build dashboards and visualizations (Tableau, Power BI, or Databricks) to surface risk indicators.
  • Partner with program integrity, healthcare operations, and analytics teams to identify fraud patterns.

Work You’ll Do

As a Project- Analytics and Insights Engineer I, on the project, you will:

  • Analyze large volumes of medical claims to uncover billing anomalies, outlier patterns, and potential improper payments — turning raw data into actionable insights that protect program integrity and taxpayer dollars.
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze large-scale Medicaid claims datasets.
  • Work hands‑on with medical claims data, including DRGs, UB-04 institutional claims, and CMS‑1500 professional claims, applying knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Build dashboards and analytical visualizations (Tableau, Power BI, or Databricks) to surface risk indicators and support investigative teams.
  • Partner with program integrity, healthcare operations, and analytics colleagues to identify emerging fraud, waste, and abuse patterns.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Health & Welfare Benefits Expertise.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a work model that requires professionals to co-locate in person 5 days per week in Des Moines, IA.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Data Visualization - Power BI, Fraud Detection and Prevention.
  • Experience with Python - Data Manipulation & Analysis, Data Management and Transformation, and Health Policy.
