Job summary

Amity Foundation seeks a Project Coordinator for CalVIP in Los Angeles to deliver direct services, advocate for participants, and support the education-to-employment pathway. You will liaise with Case Managers, educational partners, and prospective employers to augment participants’ pathways and outcomes.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, participant-centered support, data collection, and coordination of resources to remove barriers to education and employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years experience as a job developer.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a job development or similar position.
  • Knowledge of criminal record expungement process is a plus.
  • Lived experience with incarceration, addiction, poverty, foster care, or other systems involvement is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, participant-centered case management of CalVIP participants.
  • Cultivate relationships with participants to build trust and support from enrollment through discharge.
  • Guide participants through vocational training, work readiness, advocacy and sourcing for needed services.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants to gather data about needs and outcomes.
  • Provide job readiness services including mock interviewing and career coaching.
  • Prepare and review individual service plans (ISP) for participants.
  • Monitor progress relative to ISP through all phases of the program.
  • Document progress and services in case files and employment data.
  • Collaborate with Project Director and education/employer partners.
  • May liaise with Case Managers and referral partners for warm hand-offs.

Job Summary

The Project Coordinator for the California Violence Intervention & Prevention Project (CalVIP) is responsible for providing direct services andsupportfor project participants. This position liaises with existing Case Managers (referral partners), educational partners and prospective employersto support and augment the education-to-employment pathway forCalVIPparticipants,Project Coordinators provide active advocacy, wrap-around and relational credibilityto participants with former criminal-justice involvement who are pursuingeducation-to-employment pathways.

Essential Duties
  • Provide trauma-informed, participant-centered case management ofCalVIPparticipants.
  • Cultivates relationships with project participants to cultivate trust, build and maintain relationships, and support fromenrollmentthrough discharge/program completion.
  • Guides participants through all available services including vocational training, work readiness training, including advocacy andsourcingfor neededservices(if available throughCalVIPproject).
  • Maintain activeand regular contact with participants to gather data aboutparticipants’needs and performance outcomes.
  • May providetrainingthat reduce barriers to programscompletion.
  • Provides consistent case management support.
  • Supports participantsto overcome historical barriers to employment, including acquisition of educational credentials, transportation, work-related clothing and tools, record expungement,physical/health issues, technological challenges, and/or child support payments.
  • Collaboratively constructs personal development plans identifying needed additional resources and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Works with participants to monitor progress towards goals, identify and address challenges, and provide ongoing support.
  • May liaise with existingCase Managers or referral partner to ensure a warm hand-off into theCalVIPproject.
  • May liaise withCalVIPFinance Specialist or Project Director to ensure eligibility, fund availability, or fund utilization.
  • May liaise with External Evaluator to maintain or acquire data points, coordinate interviews, or assess project satisfaction.
  • Developrelationshipswith potential employer organizations within Los Angeles community that may hire certified Amity Works students and graduates.
  • Coordinateintake, and eligibility and aptitude/interest assessment of prospectiveCalVIPparticipants.
  • Provide participants with job readiness services, including mock interviewing, coaching regardingappropriatedisclosure of partjusticeinvolvementor parole status to potential employers.
  • Prepare, review and update individual service plans (ISP) for participants assigned to caseload.
  • Montior participants’ progressrelative totheir ISP through all phases of the program.
  • Document all progressand services provided in the case files, including relevant employment data.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with Project Director, BSCC liaisons, education and employer partners.
  • Provide employment services includingresume, writing, mock interviews, time management, appropriate and prosocial workplacerelationships and following instructions.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency, community advocacy and professionalismin representingthe Amity Foundation and its project to the community.
  • Responds positively to changing demands and priorities, recognizingscope of authority and decision-making processes within a team-oriented framework.
  • Participates in training provided by BCSS and/or External Evaluation team (when applicable).
  • Participate in in-service training on the background and purpose of theCalVIPProject and all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in socialsciences orpossess a high school diploma or its equivalent AND two (2) years of experienceas a job developer or similar position.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a job development or similar position
  • Basic knowledge and experience with the criminal record expungement process.
  • Lived experience with incarceration, addiction, poverty, foster care, or other systems involvement considered an asset.
