Job summary

Van Meter is seeking a Project Coordinator to support contractor and industrial customers by coordinating projects from start to finish. You will act as the liaison between customers and vendors, ensuring detailed monitoring, clear communication, and timely delivery of orders.

The role emphasizes customer service, problem solving, and ongoing collaboration with outside sales to keep account activity current. A college degree or equivalent project management experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Previous project management (or similar function) experience required.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience preferred.
  • Electrical industry knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Excel and Word skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of Eclipse preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills via phone, email and in person are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide projects oversight and communication to contractor and industrial customers.
  • Manage internal and external communications.
  • Oversee project purchasing from vendors and resolve customer problems to ensure timely delivery.
  • Update customers with project schedules, job details and orders.
  • Quote prices and credit terms; prepare sales orders for new orders.
  • Develop drafts and approval drawings for projects.
  • Provide customers with accurate progress updates and product delivery information.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships and analyze project orders.

Summary:

The Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose of providing lasting value for those we serve by serving as a key interface and essential resource for our customers. The position is responsible for the coordination and oversight of projects for contractor and industrial segments from the beginning through the completion of the project. The successful candidate serves as the liaison between our customers and our vendors to ensure all details of the project are closely monitored. They deliver excellent customer service to promote and support our products. This individual’s behavior promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value to those serve.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service the contractor and industrial customer by providing projects oversight and communication
  • Manage communication both internally and externally
  • Responsible for oversight of project to include purchasing from vendors, resolving customer problems, ensuring delivery of order, etc.
  • Update customers with project schedules, job details and orders
  • Emphasize salable features, quote prices and credit terms, prepare sales orders for orders obtained
  • Develop drafts and approval drawings for projects
  • Provide customers with accurate progress updates and product delivery information
  • Provide feedback on completion deadlines
  • Build and maintain customer relationships
  • Review and analyze reports of project orders
  • Provide data for new and existing customers for database entry
  • Work closely with Outside Sales Representatives to keep account activities up to date

Job Requirements/Specifications:
  • College degree preferred
  • Previous project management (or similar function) experience required
