Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Project Coordination Area Lead to join our Power Generation Team in the United States. You will lead a team of Project Coordinators across thermal, renewable, energy storage, and other power projects, coordinating with managers, clients, and vendors to ensure execution and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting engineering, construction, energy, industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Strong knowledge of document control and project execution processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and lead project support staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Project Coordinators supporting Power Generation projects.
  • Oversee project coordination activities for thermal generation, combined cycle, simple cycle, cogeneration, nuclear, renewable generation, and energy storage projects.
  • Support project managers with project setup, planning, document management, and project reporting activities.
  • Monitor project performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication between multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of project coordination standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in project documentation, deliverables, reporting, and coordination processes.
  • Participate in business planning initiatives and support execution of strategic growth objectives within the Power Generation group.
  • Assist with proposal development, staffing plans, project execution strategies, and project startup activities.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for project coordination staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Coordination Area Lead to join our Power Generation Team. This position supports thermal, combined cycle, simple cycle, cogeneration, energy storage, renewable generation, and other power generation projects across North America.

The Project Coordination Area Lead will provide leadership, coordination, and operational oversight for project coordination staff supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. This role serves as a key interface between project managers, engineering disciplines, clients, and support teams to ensure successful project execution, resource management, quality delivery, and continuous improvement across the Power Generation business.

Your Impact

Who You Are
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting power generation projects including thermal, combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear, renewable energy, or energy storage facilities.
  • PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification.
  • Experience with engineering consulting or EPC project delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with project financial management, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Previous exposure to project management systems, scheduling platforms, and enterprise reporting tools.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $75,000-85,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
