AECOM is seeking a Project Controls – Senior Scheduler to support planning, development, maintenance, analysis, review and reporting of design and construction schedules for projects in the Boston area. The ideal candidate will have strong CPM scheduling expertise, experience with Primavera P6, and the ability to work independently in a client‑facing environment.

The role requires detailed knowledge of vertical construction, including high‑rise and institutional projects, plus experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction management with 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in creating resource-loaded design and construction schedules using CPM.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed cost- and resource-loaded design and construction schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Review contractor schedule submissions for compliance with contractual requirements and standards.
  • Perform schedule reviews evaluating logic, sequencing, durations, calendars, and float.
  • Assess cost and resource loading, earned value, and physical percent complete.
  • Identify critical and near-critical paths and maintenance of baseline baselines.
  • Prepare biweekly and monthly schedule update analyses and progress reports.
  • Compare project progress against baselines, milestones, and contractual completion dates.
  • Investigate schedule impacts and recommend corrective actions to avoid overruns.
  • Develop look-ahead, mitigation, and recovery schedules, and what-if scenarios.
  • Conduct Time Impact Analyses and evaluate proposed schedule changes.
  • Review delays, claims, and time-extension requests with contractors.
  • Identify schedule risks and opportunities and propose corrective actions.
  • Conduct site visits to validate reported progress and percent complete.
  • Report schedule status to Program Scheduler and leadership, and present updates to stakeholders.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Controls – Senior Scheduler who will support the planning, development, maintenance, analysis, review and reporting of design and construction schedules for projects throughout the Boston area. The successful candidate will have strong technical scheduling expertise, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a transparent, client-focused environment.

This position requires extensive knowledge of vertical construction, including institutional and high-rise projects, and demonstrated experience developing and evaluating cost- and resource-loaded schedules using the Critical Path Method (CPM).

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed cost- and resource-loaded design and construction schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Review contractor schedule submissions for compliance with contractual requirements and established scheduling standards.
  • Perform comprehensive schedule reviews, including evaluations of:
    • Schedule logic, sequencing, and constraints
    • Activity durations, calendars, and assigned float
    • Cost and resource loading
    • Earned value and physical percent complete
    • Critical, longest, and near-critical paths
  • Prepare biweekly and monthly schedule update analyses and progress reports.
  • Assess project progress against approved baselines, milestones, and contractual completion dates.
  • Investigate schedule impacts and recommend corrective actions to mitigate or avoid cost and schedule overruns.
  • Develop look-ahead schedules, mitigation and recovery schedules, and “what-if” schedule scenarios.
  • Perform Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) and evaluate proposed schedule changes.
  • Assess project delays and review contractor delay analyses, claims, and requests for time extensions.
  • Identify schedule-related risks, issues, and opportunities and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular site visits and field walk-throughs to validate reported progress and physical percent complete.
  • Monitor and report project schedule status to the Program Scheduler, project leadership, senior management, and executive management.
  • Clearly communicate project status, schedule concerns, and construction progress to the client and other stakeholders.
  • Present schedule analyses and project updates during meetings with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support effective planning, forecasting, decision-making, and project delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction management plus 8 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in the preparation, development of resource loaded Design and Construction Schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM).

Preferred Requirements:

  • 12 plus years ofplanning and scheduling / project controls; experience on multiple sides of the business (i.e., Consultant, Owner, Owner Representative, Architect, Contractor, Engineer).
  • Project Delivery experience in Design Bid Build (DBB), Design-Build (DB), Construction Management at Risk (CMAR).
  • Experience with schedule management on transportation programs.
  • Experience with schedule evolution from estimating through design - construction - closeout including changes.
