Job summary

SSOE is seeking a seasoned Project Controller for multiple locations including Atlanta. You will lead project controls activities, develop cost/schedule reports, and ensure adherence to budgets across complex projects.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making and collaboration with project teams to optimize performance. Ideal candidates bring extensive experience in scheduling, cost control, and PMP/CAPM/CCE credentials, with strong communication skills and proficiency in project controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or architecture preferred.
  • Ten (10) years direct working experience in Scheduling, Estimating, Cost Control, and other Project Management related activities.
  • Twenty (20) years direct working experience in this field in lieu of degree.
  • Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Demonstrates good organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in prevailing project controls software required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise project controls staff.
  • Create and maintain cost/schedule reports.
  • Assist standards and systems development.
  • Develop databases/spreadsheets for cost, schedule, procurement reports.
  • Reconcile cost estimates with capital reports.
  • Interpret reports and communicate cost/schedule variations.
  • Analyze scheduling for adherence and manpower balance.
  • Meet to set up scheduling and cost-tracking databases.
  • Review/finalize project costs, budgets, schedules.
  • Attend meetings to report status.
  • Collaborate on reporting systems/methods.
  • Cross-train staff for efficiency.
  • Participate in proposals and BD presentations.
  • Evaluate systems/methods for improvement.
  • Train others on controls tools.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Valid driver's license required; may be waived for international assignments.

Responsibilities

The following duties are typical of the position, but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

  • May supervise the activities and review the work of project controls staff.
  • Creates and maintains routine and special reports that accurately reflect the cost and/or schedule status for complex projects, which may include the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Assists manager in the development of standards and systems for the project controls group.
  • Develops databases and spreadsheets for monitoring and preparing project cost, schedule, and procurement reports.
  • Reconciles various project cost estimates and project costs with capital accounting reports.
  • Interprets reports and communicates variations in cost, schedules, trends, and /or project strategies to appropriate personnel.
  • Analyzes scheduling information for opportunities to improve schedule adherence and balance project manpower requirements.
  • Meets with management and technical leads to set up project scheduling and cost tracking databases, reports, spreadsheets.
  • Meets with management and technical leads to review and/or finalize project costs, budgets, and/or schedules.
  • Attends internal and external project meetings to report cost and schedule status.
  • Works with manager, project managers, and other disciplines for input regarding reporting systems and methods.
  • Assists manager in cross training Project Controls staff to maximize department efficiency.
  • May participates in business development presentations, writes proposals, and prepares estimates for project controls activities.
  • Works with manager and project manager to evaluate systems, software, and methods for continuous improvement of team performance.
  • Trains others on the use and/or development of project controls databases, reports, spreadsheets and software applications.
  • Travel required.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.
