Westat, Inc. seeks a Project Control Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting within our Financial Planning and Analysis team in Bethesda, Maryland, on a hybrid schedule 2–3 days per week.

The role requires deep knowledge of government contracting finance, experience with Deltek Costpoint or TM1, and strong Excel capabilities to develop EACs, forecasts, and monthly reporting while guiding budgeting processes and financial literacy across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in Government Contracting Finance or equivalent.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or TM1 or similar forecasting tools.
  • Familiarity with US government regulations concerning cost accounting standards.
  • Proven use of Excel for data manipulation and analysis (pivot tables, lookup functions).
  • Familiarity with different Indirect Rate applications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to planning, reporting, and analysis across departments.
  • Develop Estimates at Completion (EACs) and project forecasts; review monthly revenue.
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes (monthly, quarterly, annual).

Westat is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Control Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting as part of our Financial Planning and Analysis team. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager of Reporting and Indirect, the ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of financial management principles, government regulations, and a proven track record of supporting financial oversight within the context of government contracts.

This position has a hybrid work schedule, joining our team in Bethesda, Maryland 2-3 days per week.

Job Responsibilities
  • Contribute to multiple departments’ planning, reporting, and analysis functions.
  • Develop Estimates at Completion (EACs) and project forecasts, review project monthly revenue, monitor at-risk authorizations, and support monthly project financial reporting.
  • Strategic and long-range planning for divisions and corporate requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting on controllable metrics and measurements for divisional roll-ups.
  • Coordinate, validate, and consolidate information for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual budgeting and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with team and department leads to develop annual budgets aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct financial forecasting to anticipate and address potential challenges related to indirect costs. Analyze trends, assess potential risks, and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Use models to simulate different financial scenarios and assess their impact on the organization’s financial health.
  • Communicate financial insights and trends to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Drive companywide financial literacy initiative.
  • Improve and standardize budget and reporting processes and document procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by Financial Planning and Analysis leadership or the CFO.
Basic Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in Government Contracting Finance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or TM1 or similar forecasting tools.
  • Familiarity with US government regulations concerning cost accounting standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel for data manipulation and analysis such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.
  • Familiarity with different Indirect Rate applications.

The anticipated salary range will be $82k-$102k and will be commensurate with experience.
