Job summary

MasTec Renewables seeks a site-based Commercial Contract Manager to oversee EPC contracts during pre-construction and execution phases. You will coordinate with site leadership, Commercial, and Legal teams to monitor terms, draft notices, and manage change orders for multi-site renewable projects.

Role involves up to 100% travel across the U.S., 8–16 months per project, and per diem to cover living expenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of recent experience in construction contract management on large projects ($30M–$150M).
  • 3+ years of experience using construction management software.

Responsibilities

  • Administer project contracts and draft notices per contract requirements.
  • Lead contract terms review after award and before mobilization.
  • Draft notices to subcontractors and suppliers regarding performance.
  • Participate in regular project team meetings and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Advise on contractual change requirements and track changes and claims to resolution.
  • Support insurance claims administration with project team and insurers.
  • Assist closeout to verify contractual requirements, certificates and warranties.

Overview

Are you a detail-driven professional with a passion for renewable energy and a desire to be at the heart of the action? We are seeking a site-based Commercial Contract Manager! for overall management of a project contract during the pre-construction and execution phases. This position will be responsible for administration of EPC contracts in conjunction with project leadership, including risk identification and management during project execution, providing input during pre-construction activities and negotiations as required, and for coordinating directly with the site leadership, Commercial, and Legal teams to pro-actively monitor and manage contractual terms, draft notices, and coordinate change order administration. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that construction projects are completed successfully, on time, and within budget while maintaining compliance with contractual obligations and requirements. Their expertise is essential for minimizing risks and fostering positive relationships among all stakeholders involved in the project.

Location & Travel Details

You have the potential to be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the United States. This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be onsite at a project location. You’ll get the opportunity to travel across the U.S., helping our team build renewable projects, spending 8-16 months on average per project. We offer designated daily per diem in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses. This position is eligible for routine travel home (rotation) from the jobsite. We are currently seeking candidates at our Normangee, TX and Woodford, IL sites.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist the project team in administering project contracts, including drafting notices to clients in accordance with contractual requirements such as those pertaining to force majeure, owner-caused delays, and other contractual matters requiring notices
  • Assist in the delivery of a key contract terms review with the project team after contract award but prior to mobilization
  • Draft contractual notices to subcontractors and suppliers regarding performance and other project execution related matters
  • Participate in regular project team meetings and proactively engage with the project team
  • Advise the Project Manager on the contractual change requirements including monitoring and tracking changes and claims through final resolution
  • Provide support to the Project Manager, project team, and insurance team in administering, tracking, documenting, and closing our insurance claims
  • Support project closeout to ensure all contractual requirements are met including administration of certificates and warranties
  • Capture contractual lessons learned during project execution and report out during the Close Out Phase Gate
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or relevant discipline; or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of recent experience in construction contract management on large and complex construction projects in the $30MM to 150MM range
  • 3+ years of recent experience in using construction management software
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Strong knowledge of construction contract requirements, contract change conditions, claims analysis and negotiations, change order cost estimates, and time impact analyses
  • Experience with Viewpoint, Procore, and Project Controls software
  • Subject-matter expert in contract management principles and techniques
  • Understanding of common construction agreement provisions including warranties, limits of liability, risk of loss, schedule milestones/LD’s, force majeure, and change orders
  • Ability to interpret difficult and complex contractual provisions
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel)
