Job summary

Gensler's Oakland studio seeks a Project Architect to lead design through construction, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver complex, high-performance spaces.

Candidates must be a California-licensed architect with 10+ years of experience, proficient in Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite, and committed to sustainable design.

The role offers a base salary between $132,000 and $160,000, with annual bonuses, ESOP, and profit sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school.
• Must be a licensed architect in the State of California.
• 10+ years of experience in the profession of architectural design.
• Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge of California building codes, standards and building structures.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; portfolio with LEED/Living Building/WELL/Net Zero focus.

• Work in all phases of design through construction administration.
• Manage and lead the client, the design team, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
• Ideally have Design-Build Project Experience.
• Produce BIM models and construction drawings.
• Resolve challenging technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technical and constructible solutions.
• Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development for both interiors and core & shell projects.
• A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Effective communicator, collaborative and team-conscious.
• Provide Mentorship and coaching to grow junior staff members.
• Participate in office culture and drive office initiatives.

Your Role

As a Project Architect at Gensler, you will collaborate with a talented team of architects and designers to transform ideas into impactful built work. You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design and technical development through construction administration, helping deliver innovative solutions that balance design excellence, performance, and client goals.

What You Will Do

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school
• Must be a licensed architect in the State of California
• 10+ years of experience in the profession of architectural design
• Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants
• Experience working directly with trade partners and contractors
• Experience resolving complex technical and design issues
• Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Understanding of how buildings are constructed and ability to create technical documents that succinctly, thoroughly, and accurately describe the work to be done
• Knowledge of California building codes, standards and building structures
• Understanding of sustainable and universal design concepts
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required. Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard , Fitwel and /or Net Zero Building certification

This is not a remote role; we look forward to working with our new Architect in our incredible Oakland, CA office.

**The base salary will be estimated between $132,000 - $160,000. Gensler's total compensation package is multi-layered and includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and profit sharing.
