Job summary

SCB, a national multi-disciplinary design firm, seeks a creative designer for Chicago projects in mixed‑use, adaptive reuse, aviation, commercial office, and higher education sectors. You will collaborate across the design team and lead with the PM or Principal, coordinating with consultants to prepare technical drawings and interiors studies.

The ideal candidate has 5–15 years of post‑graduate experience, strong detail orientation, and proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe

Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in interior design or architecture.
• 5-15 years post‑graduate, full‑time experience in a design/architectural firm.
• NCIDQ Certificate Holder, RID or Licensed Architect preferred.
• Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
• Experience in residential and commercial office interiors preferred.
• Understanding of all project phases from programming to construction documents.
• Ability to lead a project including consultants and internal staff.
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and graphics software; familiarity with Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement project design philosophy and drive successful project execution through design and construction phases.
• Prepare design details, technical drawings, and coordinate with in-house team and external consultants.
• Demonstrate knowledge of interior architectural finishes and performance standards to meet client expectations.
• Organize work efforts of the project team and facilitate communication with clients and consultants.
• Coordinate FF&E in drawings and specs.
• Ensure design intent is reflected in drawings and specs.
• Lead team meetings and client presentations with multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and train junior staff constructively.
