Job summary

DeStigter Architecture LLC is a growing architectural firm just outside downtown Grand Rapids, specializing in multi-family housing, mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation. The firm emphasizes inquiry-driven design and community-focused solutions.

The Project Architect will lead design from concept through construction documents, manage budgets and schedules, coordinate with diverse consultants, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high quality and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited program.
  • 5-7 years of experience in architectural field.
  • LEED Accreditation is preferred.
  • Experience in both Commercial and Residential construction.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating innovative and functional design solutions.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale architectural projects.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, building systems, construction techniques, and architectural detailing.
  • Ability to coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and landscape consultants.
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills.
  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process, ensuring that architectural plans meet client specifications and regulatory requirements, from conceptual phase through construction documentation.
  • Coordinate all phases of the project, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, present designs, and provide updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and manage construction documents, including drawings, specifications and reports.
  • Ensure that the project adheres to building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architectural staff.
  • Ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Review contractor RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Handle project-related communication and negotiations with clients and contractors.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Core office hours are 8am to 5pm M-F. We offer a hybrid work environment with the ability to work remotely as appropriate with your experience. Tools are provided for remote work.

Role Requirements
Under the guidance of the firm’s senior team members, the Project Architect’s primary day-to-day responsibilities will be as follows:
