Job summary

KFA is seeking a Project Architect to shape Los Angeles projects, coordinating design efforts and leading consultant coordination. The role emphasizes design stewardship, client presentations, and successful project execution in a collaborative practice.

Ideal candidates will have 8–15 years of licensure, a relevant architectural degree, and proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite. Hybrid work environment in Los Angeles area is offered.

Qualifications

  • 8–15 years of architectural experience and licensure are required.
  • Completion of a five-year accredited architectural program or a four-year program graduate.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and construction types.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to lead, mentor junior staff, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and participate in project design efforts;

  • Act as steward of the design throughout the project;

  • Prepare design presentations and packages for client and community meetings;

  • Receive and implement design critique feedback from clients and team members;

  • Lead and prepare agenda for internal and external team meetings;

  • Lead technical project coordination with consultant team;

  • Manage communication among project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and permitting officials;

  • Bring concerns, problems and proposed solutions to project teams;

  • Manage internal production workflow and team, planning goals and resources to meet project schedule and milestones;

  • Create details that reflect the design intent of the project;

  • Manage architectural responsibilities during Construction Administration;

  • Perform work in a timely manner to meet the project schedule.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • 8 - 15 years of experience;

  • Licensure required;

  • Completion of five-year accredited architectural program or graduate of four-year architectural program;

  • Knowledge of Type I, III, & V construction;

  • Experience in mixed-use, community and/or multi-family residential projects preferred;

  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator);

  • Working knowledge of building codes, industry standards, building construction, and building structures with the ability to layout a code compliant fit plan;

  • Experience in Construction Administration;

  • Ability to manage and mentor junior staff;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently on architectural design projects.

Compensation is based upon experience and the estimated range is $100,000 - $120,000 annually, plus bonuses and benefits.
