Job summary

EXP Services Inc. is seeking a Project Architect for Mission Critical and Commercial Building projects to lead design teams and manage client relationships from Chicago, IL.

The role focuses on delivering construction documents and overseeing both in-house and subconsultant coordination. The candidate should have a Bachelor or Master in Architecture, at least 5 years of experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and related design tools are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture required.
• Detailed knowledge of architectural practice with emphasis on client interaction, design development, and construction documents prep.
• Working knowledge of specification preparation, materials, cost coordination, and building codes.
• Experience in construction administration.
• Licensed Architect or pursuing licensure via NCARB’s AXP program.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Mission Critical/Data Center projects preferred.
• Proficiency in Revit with working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and SketchUp.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate design and technical team from Conceptual Design to Construction Documents and Construction Phase; primary client point of contact.
• Work with Program Manager and Project Manager to establish project schedules.
• Coordinate with in-house team and outside subconsultants across multiple projects.
• Develop presentation documents and participate in client presentations.
• Travel to client sites in the Midwest for surveys or meetings.
• Ensure designs meet building codes and ADA requirements.
• Oversee bid and construction phase activities in office and field.
• Act as a technical resource for project teams.

A Project Architect represents EXP’s interests through effective project leadership and actions that advance the Firm’s mission and business interests. This position can be located in the Chicago, IL office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• A Project Leader represents EXP’s interests through effective project leadership and actions that advance the Firm’s mission. The Project Leader speaks for the Firm and conducts him/herself in a manner commensurate with a position of leadership within the Firm. Your responsibilities include:
• Responsible for oversight and coordination of design and technical team from Conceptual Design through Construction Documents and Construction Phase. Primary Client Point of Contact.
• Work with Program Manager and Project Manager to stablish project schedules.
• Oversight includes in-house team as well as outside subconsultants on multiple projects simultaneously. Oversight of technical coordination with all disciplines, ensuring the project is detailed and executed to maintain the design concept with technical astuteness.
• Develop presentation documents and participate in presentations to clients.
• Travel to client sites in the Midwest for surveys or client meetings.
• Ensure that designs meet applicable building code and ADA requirements.
• Oversee corresponding bid and construction phase activities in the office and in the field.
• Act as a technical resource for project teams.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture required
• Detailed knowledge of architectural practice with emphasis client interaction, design development, preparation of construction documents
• Working knowledge of specification preparation, building materials, coordination with construction costs, and building codes
• Experience in construction administration
• Ability to successfully balance client and PM expectations while meeting project deadlines.
• Ability to work in a team & lead a team of designers across multiple disciplines.
• Licensed Architect or working toward licensure through NCARB’s AXP program.
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD
• Mission Critical or Data Center projects preferred but not required
• Proficiency in Revit preferred with a working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketchup
• Minimum of 5 years of experience

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
