Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Project Architect to lead and execute design, ensure code compliance, and deliver high-quality documentation. You will plan and coordinate major project phases while mentoring junior staff and collaborating across disciplines to achieve integrated design solutions.

Ideal candidates have a professional architecture degree, a registered architect credential, and 6+ years of related experience, with a background in academic, data center, or healthcare projects

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registered Architect license or credential preferred.
  • “6+ years of related experience” required or preferred.
  • Experience with Academic, Data Center, or Healthcare projects a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural practice and code principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute project design, building code compliance, and technical quality of documentation.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of professional work on major projects or moderate scope.
  • Ensure compliance with codes and ADA requirements.
  • Assist Project Director with staffing plans and scheduling.
  • Coordinate layouts, design, drafting, and specs produced by others.
  • Mentor junior staff and help develop future project architects.
  • Establish project design criteria in consultation with the Director.
  • Stay informed on new developments and technologies affecting architectural practice.

Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Project Architect to be responsible for the leadership and technical execution of project design, building code and technical quality of project documentation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard construction components and systems to execute design intent

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of professional work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope

  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and ADA requirements

  • Assist the Project Director in developing project staff-hours and planning schedule for his/her aspects of the project

  • Coordinate the layout, design, drafting, and specifications produced by other architects and technicians who assist in specific assignments

  • Mentor junior staff; assist in the development of future project architects

  • In consultation with the Project Director, assist in establishing project design criteria

  • Through research, study, and consultation with outside consultants and professional societies, keep informed of new developments and systems as they influence the individual’s particular field of architectural practice and design

  • Promote technologies and methodologies to create innovative approaches and improve technical quality of work product; keep abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry

  • Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and ensure integrated design approaches & solutions

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Higher Education or Science & Technology experience required.

  • Academic, Data Center, or Healthcare experience a plus

  • Requires thorough knowledge of architectural practice

  • Requires thorough knowledge of code principles

  • Ability to use Revit and/or BIM software

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to lead others and foster teamwork

  • Ability to use good judgment and make timely decisions

  • Requires knowledge of basic firm financial metrics related to project management

  • Proactive management style

Education and Experience

  • Professional degree in Architecture

  • At least 6 years of related experience

  • Must be a Registered Architect

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
