Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Cost Analysis & Tracking — Collect, validate, and analyze data related to labor, direct materials, and other job-related costs; monitor project costs on an ongoing basis to prevent budget overruns.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting — Develop and manage project-specific budgets, prepare financial forecasts, and identify and explain deviations from plan.
  • Financial Reporting — Track project expenses and revenue and prepare detailed financial reports; review financial documents for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
  • Budget Variance Analysis — Partner with project managers to assess costs, analyze budget variances, and recommend financial adjustments that support project profitability and sustainability.
  • Balance Sheet Management — Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Billing & Contract Administration — Coordinate the project billing process, including AIA payment applications, and maintain a working understanding of contracts and change orders.
  • Process Improvement — Recommend policy and workflow changes that reduce costs and maximize profitability.
  • Construction Accounting — Apply cost accounting principles to construction projects, including job costing and WIP analysis.
  • Software Utilization — Use Procore and Foundation accounting software for cost tracking, reporting, and project financial management.
  • Team Support — Assist other accountants with daily accounting tasks and project-related financial needs.

Job Summary

The Project Accountant supports financial accuracy, cost efficiency, and strategic decision-making across the organization. This role requires 5+ years of hands‑on project accounting experience, particularly within general contractor companies. Based in the company's Venice, FL office, the Project Accountant collaborates closely with the controller, operations team, and project managers.

Key Responsibilities
