Job summary

Qualifications

  • Comfort with Excel (e.g., basic formulas, filters, sorting).
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job cost analysis, identify overruns and margin trends.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and explain variances.
  • Support month-end close with job cost and accrual adjustments.
  • Compile cost data for internal reporting and management review.
  • Act as liaison between Accounting, PM, Estimating, Payroll and Operations.
  • Communicate regularly to collect updates and resolve discrepancies.
  • Resolve cost coding, billing, payroll, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Ensure consistency between field reports, payroll data, invoices, and financial records.

This role bridges Accounting and Operations, providing accurate and actionable job cost insight that helps Project Managers, Estimators, and company leadership make informed decisions. It’s hands-on and detail-driven, involving both transactional work and data analysis, with growing opportunities to improve systems and reporting processes as we modernize.

Position Description
Key Responsibilities
Job Cost & Accounting Support
  • Perform job cost analysis and identify cost overruns, margin risks, and trends.
  • Monitor and maintain project budgets, costs, and profitability.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and explain cost variances.
  • Support the month-end close process with job cost and accrual adjustments
  • Compile cost data and documentation for internal reporting and management review
  • Act as a key liaison between Accounting, Project Management, Estimating, Payroll and Operations.
  • Communicate regularly with team members to collect updates and resolve discrepancies at all levels.
  • Resolve cost coding, billing, payroll, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Ensure consistency between field reports, payroll data, invoices, and financial records.
Process Improvement & Reporting
  • Contribute to developing and analyzing new reports, templates, and internal dashboards
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in cost tracking
  • Support ongoing initiatives to automate or streamline manual processes
  • Assist in documenting procedures and standardizing recurring workflows
Administrative & Systems Tasks
  • Assist with automating and streamlining manual procedures.
  • Manage updates and changes to project-specific financial data
  • Maintain strong version control and backup practices for reporting files
  • Support audit and review requests with organized, clearly labeled documentation

Position Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Comfort with Excel (e.g., basic formulas, filters, sorting)
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization.
Preferred but not required:
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or job cost environments (1-2 years)
  • Familiarity with journal entries and basic GL principles
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting/dashboard tools is a plus but not required.
