Job summary

BJC HealthCare (New) is seeking a dedicated CNA to join our hospital team for the Progressive Care Unit. You will provide direct patient care under licensed nurses, assisting with daily living activities and vital signs, in a 7:00pm–7:30am night shift schedule.

Responsibilities include documenting patient data, reporting status changes to the nursing staff, and helping ensure safety and quality care. CNA certification is required; prior hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed CNA certification is required.
• Preferred hospital or clinical setting experience.
• Night shift availability: 7:00pm–7:30am; every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision, assisting with ADLs and monitoring vitals.
• Document patient information and communicate changes to the nursing team.
• Support patient safety and comfort, and assist with basic procedures as directed.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.

Progressive Care Unit is a 40 bed unit dedicated primarily to the cardiac and pulmonary patient populations. Unit has the ability to provide cardiac monitoring for all patients on the floor. The unit is located on the 7th floor and has a ten-bed Respiratory Care Unit for individuals with choric lung illnesses. Progressive Care Unit is staffed by RN's, PCAs and clerical associates.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the nursing team which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
