Summary/Description:
- Programming for precision Mill-Turn CNC Lathe & 3 & 4 Axis VMC / Horizontal parts from engineered CAD data
- Provide detailed setup /machine program work instructions for shop floor personnel when required
- Selects, verifies, quotes or orders holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, etc. at times.
- Interact with multiple Engineering groups as required regarding clarification , design changes, manufacturability
- Perform basic problem solving within department along with external planning, engineering groups
- Create clear concise setup /machine program work instructions
- Update NC processes and part revisions as necessary when notified or requested
- Verification of program performance at floor level; including malfunctions, out of tolerance machining aspects, machine adjustments, optimal cycle performance
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May be required to advise or instruct operators in proper operation of machine tools/practices.
- May be required to instruct operators in inspection of production detail parts to ensure quality/dimensional values are maintained and verified to print.
Qualifications:
- Proficient with Esprit 2017 and/or Mastercam programming software (Level X4 minimum).
- Understanding of Solidworks, Catia for CAD translations.
- 3 axis VMC mill / 4 & 5 axis / Horizontal programming a plus
- Mill Turn lathe operation / programming a plus
- 5+ yrs CNC Mill operation experience , 5+ yrs programming experience
- Proficient interpretation of drawings, tolerances, GD&T and specifications.
- Work from oral and written instructions, drawings, blueprints, various files.
- Proficient interpretation of production / assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, drawing notes, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
Familiar with the following machines and/or controls:
- Various HAAS & Mori controls for both mill and lathe
- Technical degree preferred
- Good understanding of Fanuc G-code
Language Skills:
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence, co-worker tie in, and direct feedback to internal/external depts.
- Ability to effectively present/relay information in one-one and smaller group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to provide accurate and direct feedback to operators, management and other departments as required or requested.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurements, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Understanding of basic trigonometry.
- Understanding English and metric measurement systems and ability to convert both.
