Job summary

The Programmer Analyst position within the Information Technology Department at the State Board of Administration of Florida is an entry to associate level role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining business applications and systems integrations using modern frameworks and relational databases.

Under guidance from the Lead Software Architect and Software Development Manager, you will build skills, contribute to team projects, and support business needs.

Qualifications

  • Three years of related experience. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer engineering, MIS, mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with Azure App Development
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Oracle Database
  • Experience with Power BI and/or other reporting software
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps
  • Experience with API calls from application code
  • Experience with HTML, JSON, XML, and CSS Frameworks
  • Working knowledge of WCMS and other web related technologies

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and bug-fixes on existing apps, including legacy code
  • Improvements and refactoring of outdated legacy code
  • Assist and act as backup to Senior Architect in development and support of external websites
  • Programming new custom applications and developing new features as needed
  • Act as backup for Content Management System updates

Job description

The Programmer Analyst is an entry to associate level position within the Information Technology Department, supporting the design, development, and maintenance of business applications and systems integrations utilizing modern software frameworks and development platforms, relational database technologies, and web development technologies. The Programmer Analyst works under guidance of Lead Software Architect and Software Development Manager to build technical skills, contribute to team projects, and support business needs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality applications. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and scalable code.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Troubleshooting and bug-fixes on existing apps, including legacy code
  • Improvements and refactoring of outdated legacy code
  • Assist and act as backup to Senior Architect in development and support of external websites
  • Programming new custom applications and developing new features as needed
  • Act as backup for Content Management System updates
