Job summary

New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB) seeks a Java JEE developer to design, develop, test, and deploy full‑stack applications spanning browser-based and standalone platforms from database to UI.

You will collaborate with SMEs and senior IT staff to translate requirements into robust software and provide some analytical review of data. The role requires at least two years of related experience and an associate degree in CS/IT, with strong HTML5/CSS, Linux scripting, and ERP knowledge.

Job description

Responsible for performing most of the software development lifecycle - specification gathering / analysis, design, development, testing / integration and documentation / maintenance. Java JEE developer - supports browser-based and standalone applications from relational database layer through user interface The position requires working with subject matter experts and other senior IT personnel, to develop specifications, test and provide some analytical review of data. Responsibilities may include user education, basic analysis and application support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Specification Documentation - responsible for working with the business to document / design the specifications of the project; including business rules, formulas, tasks and logic flow; input / output designs and edits.
• Programming - responsible for writing code to support business rules and logic in accordance with the project specifications.
• Testing - performing and documenting appropriate tests on the software to ensure error free code is presented for end user testing and deployed into production.
• May deploy application and systems to production
• Documentation Development - responsible for documenting business rules or formulas used; maintaining various system or program flows and process maps; developing and maintaining operation procedures, recovery procedures and user documentation.
• Supports business problem investigation and resolution.
• Train personnel how to use applications they develop; Provide applications support as needed
• Communicate and interact with staff to increase efficiency and functionality of applications
• Continuously develop technology expertise
• Assist Information Systems Management with special projects as directed

Job Skills & Abilities

• Design and implement software applications/full-stack JEE applications
• Relational database design and optimization
• UX design and implementation utilizing HTML5 and CSS
• Responsive UI development with JQuery and other libraries
• Knowledge of Linux OS, shell scripting, and basic networking is preferred
• Ability to self-manage project from start to finish

• Rotating on-call support schedule during business and or non-business hours

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology; or a degree in a related field of study the position will be supporting (see supplemental Software Development Skills sheet for list of programming languages, software, databases, systems, skills and studies), or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field of work
• Experience with building end-to-end applications
• Past position working with projects from conception to completion with accuracy and attention to detail

Using the Software Development Skills sheet:

• Strong working knowledge with one or more of the Core ERP Languages listed
• Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the Core ERP Systems or Client / Server - Web Systems
• Additional working knowledge or experience with other programming languages listed is a plus
• Working knowledge and experience with one or more of the Core ERP System Databases
• Working Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and at least one of the modules listed under the Application Systems section

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Able to travel as needed (occasional).
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at organizations' facilities.
