We’re a mid-sized, employee-owned company on a mission to create meaningful value for both our employees and our customers. That means we’re not just looking for someone to fill a seat - we’re looking for someone who wants to build, innovate, and evolve with us.

Our company primarily serves the Navy and other Department of Defense clients, offering a dynamic environment where your expertise will make a difference.

About the Role

AVIAN is seeking a Program Systems Engineer to support the Persistent Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office (PMA‑262) in Patuxent River, MD. This role provides systems engineering and technical analysis support for the MQ‑4C Triton, a high‑altitude, long‑endurance maritime Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform.

The selected candidate will play a key role across the systems engineering lifecycle, supporting avionics and communications subsystems, ensuring airworthiness, and facilitating collaboration between U.S. Navy and international partners.

Responsibilities
  • Perform systems engineering and technical analysis for avionics and communications subsystems supporting the MQ‑4C Triton platform
  • Review engineering artifacts, airworthiness documentation, and test data to assess system safety, integration, and compliance with U.S. Navy and Commonwealth of Australia requirements
  • Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including development, production, integration, sustainment, and operational testing
  • Coordinate and participate in technical reviews, engineering working groups, and program meetings
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and integrate engineering inputs into the Integrated Government Schedule (IGS)
  • Serve as a technical liaison between U.S. Navy and Commonwealth of Australia airworthiness teams
  • Support execution of the Airworthiness Qualification Plan (AQP)
  • Participate in configuration management activities and ensure engineering documentation meets disclosure and release requirements for allied operations
Qualifications
Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) to ten (10) years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD aircraft or weapons systems
  • Experience in design, development, integration, and testing of hardware, software, and/or navigation, sensor, or communication subsystems

  • Due to the sensitivity of customer‑related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Full‑time, on‑site support in Patuxent River, MD
  • Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity
Desired Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with NAVAIR Systems Engineering processes and Airworthiness requirements
  • Experience supporting Navy Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) programs
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience
