Position Summary

The Program Supervisor assures that the residential staff implement effective group functions and interventions that result in improved social/interpersonal functioning and high rates of successful program completion with return to home environments among the youth served. The Program Supervisor will assure that the residential staff adhere to all program prescribed policies, procedures, treatment methodologies, and therapeutic interventions that will improve adaptive social functioning, educational growth and high rates of successful activity completion for each youth.

In addition, the Program Supervisor is responsible for assuring that all staff under their supervision carry out their respective assignments in a manner that is consistent with the goals and philosophy of the program to which they are assigned. When appropriate and required, the supervisor is responsible for recruiting, interviewing and selecting subordinate staff, providing orientation and training to those staff and assuring their adherence to Pressley Ridge and program specific policies. Supervisors are further responsible for understanding all applicable state and federal regulations and laws regarding the children for whom their assigned program is responsible and for passing that information on to subordinate staff.

  • Clinical and Support
    • Guides and monitors all activities of the staff under their supervision (MTCs, MTCAs, and DSPs) in developing and implementing individual service plans.
    • Makes oneself available to staff when guidance is needed and routinely visit the residential sites
    • Assists and/or coordinates in preparation and implementation of pre-service and in-service training
    • Assists other staff as needed in physical interventions to protect youth, staff, and property from damage.
    • Develops appropriate service plan interventions and goals
    • Completes service plans and other related paperwork in a timely manner
    • Detects and remediates any potentially dangerous environmental conditions.
    • Organizes and implements special activities as needed.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Collects data related to youth's progress on individual objectives via assessments and data collection (e.g. Home Places LODEs).
    • Maintains comprehensive records of staff performance and sharing these with the Program Director.
    • Coordinates recruitment efforts to maintain staffing pattern for the program.
  • Communication
    • Communicates information in a timely manner to their direct supervisor.
    • Discusses relevant topics with the management team.
    • Communicates relevant information to staff.
  • Supervision
    • Requires supervision.
    • Receive supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
    • Provides supervision.
    • Supervise staff directly or their supervisors depending upon the personnel actions including action plans, hiring, terminations, recruitment, vacation and sick day requests. Ensures that program staffing is qualified and provides continued safety of children served with high rates of success/program completion.
  • Leadership
    • Encourages staff to bring issues to the management team’s attention and relay outcomes to staff of any decision made because of the original issue.
    • Trains staff effectively on clinical skills such as active listening as well as other topics that are deemed relevant.
    • Maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with others.
    • Understands and utilizes re-education principles as well as promote the agency’s values and mission.
  • Risk Management and Safety
    • Adheres to the program policy, values, and regulations and oversee that subordinate staff does the same.
    • Obtains a minimum of 40 hours of training per year relating to supervising others, clinical skills, or any other topic as deemed relevant by their supervisor as appropriate for the children and families that the program serves or based on the need of the supervisor.
    • Understands as well as implements the regulations/guidelines that are relevant to the children on their caseload as well as understand the Child Protective Service Law.
    • Discusses the regulations/guidelines with staff that they supervise.
    • Monitors the youth’s file in effort to make sure that all appropriate and mandated forms are accounted for.
  • Professional Development
    • Functions as a trainer (internal and/or external to Pressley Ridge) accordingly.
    • Furthers growth and development and attends conferences, webinars, seminars, etc. with Program Director approval.

Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials/Licensure:
    • Requires a bachelor's degree in human services field.
    • Requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Experience:
    • Requires two (2) years of experience with special populations in special education, Deaf education, intellectual disabilities, and or/mental health field.
    • School for the Deaf:
      • American Sign Language proficiency is preferred.
      • American Sign Language proficiency is required within two (2) years from hire date.
  • Clearances:
    • State Police
    • FBI
    • Child Abuse Clearances
    • CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training per state regulation.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands
    • This position requires operating office equipment 75% of the time and transporting clients 25% of the time. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows 60% of the day. Legs and feet are used 30% the day. The lower and upper torso is used 10% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. At the School for the Deaf, Deaf or hard of hearing employees fluent in American Sign Language do not have a minimum requirement for hearing and/or speech. Walking is required 20% of the day. Standing occurs 30% of the day. Sitting happens 40% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 10% of the day. This function routinely lifts 15 pounds, 4 times per day. The maximum lift is over 50 pounds, 1 time per day. The position requires the ability to implement physical interventions and meet the physical demands of TCI. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Mental Demands
    • This position requires a frequent need to make quick decisions and concentrate as well as handle distractions that interfere and a diversity of problems. Continually, this position performs multiple tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelors or better in Human Services or related field.

Experience
