Job summary

ACMH’s St. Hilda's House seeks a Program Specialist in Manhattan to provide direct services and training in daily living skills. You will support residents, teach budgeting, meal planning, and personal care, while documenting progress and ensuring safety.

Based at the St. Hilda's House site with a Sunday-Thursday 7:00am-3:00pm schedule, the role includes medication administration oversight, incident reporting, and participation in trainings to support vulnerable New Yorkers.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent with psychology coursework; experience in human services preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with serious mental illness preferred.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach skills for daily living including personal hygiene, laundry, and apartment cleaning.
  • Monitor apartment maintenance and notify supervisor of issues.
  • Instruct budgeting, shopping, meal planning, preparation and cleanup.
  • Teach self-preservation, monitor safety and cleanliness of living units.
  • Administer client cooking safety test.
  • Monitor and document self-administration of medications per policy.
  • Report incidents or behavioral changes to supervisor.
  • Teach travel skills and escort clients when needed.
  • Document services and client progress promptly.
  • Attend training as requested by supervisory staff.
  • Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.

Reports to

Function

Provides direct service to clients, assisting with training in skills of daily living.

Location

Manhattan (Hamilton Heights)

Schedule

Sundays through Thursdays (7:00am-3:00pm)

Tasks
  • Teaches skills for maintaining personal hygiene, laundry and apartment cleaning.
  • Monitors overall maintenance of apartments and alerts program director of maintenance problems.
  • Teaches skills for budgeting, shopping, meal planning, preparation and clean-up.
  • Teaches skills for self-preservation, monitors living units for safety and cleanliness.
  • Administers the client cooking safety test.
  • Monitors, documents and teaches self-administration of medication, according to program policy and procedures.
  • Report incidents or behavioral changes in residents to supervisor.
  • Teaches travel skills and escorts clients, where needed.
  • Documents services rendered and client progress in a timely manner.
  • Attends training as requested by supervisory staff.
  • Duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements

High school diploma with some undergraduate work in psychology or high school diploma with significant experience in human services. Experience working with adults with serious mental illness preferred. Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Salary & Location

Single Site Salary: $45,760 plus generous benefits
