Correctional Health Services is seeking to hire a Program Specialist I. The individual hired for this position will coordinate specialized agency support services for Clinical Administrators in a variety of assignments, and work as the liaison for inmate family communication/orientation.

Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:

  • As a Program Specialist working within the Clinical Bureau, you will be required to make independent decisions and solve job related problems quickly and correctly.
  • You will also perform support service duties including:
  • Assist Clinical Services in controlling expenditures.
  • Coordinate travel and conference requests.
  • Act as Clinical Services representative in meetings.
  • Review and respond to medical grievances from inmates.
  • Assist in tracking documentation of medical appointments with off-site providers.
  • Maintain and distribute all on-call calendars for Clinical Services Administration and Medical staff.
  • Prepare agendas, attend meetings, and take and prepare meeting minutes. Prepare correspondence.
  • Create spreadsheets.
  • Audit telecommunication, electronics and computer equipment for Clinical Services.
  • Computer and telecommunication equipment tracking and inventory.
  • Assist in personnel duties.
Supplemental Information
  • An offer of employment will be contingent on the applicant successfully passing a DHHS background check, pre-employment drug testing, and a Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) background screening.
  • This position may currently be a hybrid of both two (2) in-office and three (3) remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion, at any time, and for any reason.
  • There may be a 12 month probationary period with this position.
  • DHRM Rules regarding promotions and transfer apply to current State of Utah employees.
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Be a self starter
  • Have effective administration skills.
  • Ability to learn new programs.

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the EMR Fusion.
  • Knowledge of the EMR Epic.
  • Medical scheduling experience.
