Job description

The Family Support Division, Office of Workforce and Community Initiatives is seeking applications for a Program Specialist within the Domestic Violence and Shelter Services/Victim of Crime Act Unit. This position will be located in Cole County at 3705 MO Blvd 2nd Floor, Jefferson City, MO.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research, review, and analyze federal and state legislation for its intent, meaning, and effects; assist in planning for program development; develop and design new program policy and procedures and modify existing program policy and procedures; review and analysis of existing program and procedures, including the data systems and impact evaluations; interpret policy to field staff and others as required. Individual may work as a group with other units, divisions, departments and/or organizations or work independently depending on the scope of the work assignment.

General Summary:

This is a professional position accountable for managing the processes and activities of an agency program or operation or providing support to senior management in a specialized area. Applies professional and technical knowledge to undertake analysis and interpretation of information and data. Participates as a contributing team member, presenting recommendations and building on others’ ideas. Performs assignments under the general guidance and advice from more experienced colleagues or supervisor. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the assigned program or operation. Skill in the analysis and interpretation of information and data, and presentation of recommendations.

Two or more years of experience in a professional or technical job classification with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System in the Missouri Department of Social Services; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

OR

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and, Four or more years of professional or technical experience providing social services; or conducting investigations or audits of social service providers, recipients, and/or applicants.

(24 earned graduate credit hours from an accredited college or university in social or behavioral sciences, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the stated experience.)

(A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social or behavioral sciences, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field may substitute for two years of the stated experience.)

(Additional qualifying experience may substituteyear-for-yearfor deficiencies in the required education.)
