Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking a Quality Engineer III to lead quality assurance programs across our aerospace and defense products. You will perform audits, drive process improvements, and mentor junior engineers, ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and related standards while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field, 5+ years of experience, CQE or Six Sigma Black Belt, and the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ Years experience as a Quality Engineer or in a related field.
• In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 9 years of related experience is required.
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO9001, AS9001 standards.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing and inspection.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
• Proficient ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
• Considerable knowledge of Quality System requirements and contract quality requirements.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.

• Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Considerable knowledge of Quality System requirements and contract quality requirements.
• Proficient ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
• Proven leadership and project management experience.
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO9001, AS9001 standards.
• Extensive experience in manufacturing and inspection.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
• Advanced degree in Engineering or related field.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
• Requirement to be on feet for a significant portion of the work shift.
• Majority of work hours spent on a computer.
• Hand/finger dexterity for using testing and inspection tools.
• Occasional travel may be required for audits and supplier visits.
