Job summary

Early Learning Coalition of Duval seeks a Program Quality and Support professional to lead quality initiatives across SR and VPK settings. Hybrid work with regional travel will be required to coach providers and support system-wide improvements.

Qualifications

Job Description

Position Title: Program Quality and Support

General Description

This position will be responsible for developing, implementing and supporting quality initiatives that promote best practices in School Readiness (SR) and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) within early childhood education settings. This position provides training, technical assistance, and ongoing support to strengthen the implementation of performance standards and high-quality instructional practices. The position also ensures compliance with Coalition policies and procedures, as well as all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.


Essential Job Functions


  • Provide training, technical assistance and ongoing support to program directors and staff participating in applicable statewide initiatives and local quality initiatives

  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen teacher-child interactions and promote high- quality classroom environments

  • Partner with teachers and program staff to establish quality improvement goals and support developmentally appropriate learning practices

  • Build and maintain collaborative mentoring relationships, grounded in trust, respect, and continuous professional growth

  • Demonstrate and communicate current best practices in early childhood education through coaching, modeling, training and professional development

  • Support the Guiding Stars of Duval Quality Rating and Improvement System by conducting provider training, validation activities, supporting the wage incentive process, and finalizing program star ratings

  • Collaborate with other Coalition departments to coordinate quality support initiatives as needed

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding provider information, quality improvement activities, and support services

  • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while consistently meeting established deadlines

  • Observe, identify, and support effective instructional practices that promote high-quality early learning environments

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all technical assistance, coaching, and quality improvement activities

  • Enter, monitor, and maintain accurate program data in designated tracking systems

  • Travel throughout Duval County, as required, to support providers and program activities

  • Perform additional duties and special projects assigned to support the mission and goals of the department and the Coalition

  • Provide support to the Director of Program Quality and Support


Knowledge and Skills


  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, research, and effective professional development strategies

  • Knowledge of Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards Birth to Kindergarten

  • Strong understanding of current best practices in early childhood education, with an emphasis on teacher-child interactions, classroom environments, curriculum implementation, and program assessments

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong active listening skills with the ability to adapt coaching and training approaches to meet the diverse adult learning styles

  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with child care providers, Coalition staff, community partners, and other stakeholders

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to solve problems and seek clarification when needed

  • Proficiency in computer hardware and software applications used by the Coalition

  • Self-motivated and proactive in identifying needs, addressing challenges, and following through on responsibilities

  • Sensitivity to the needs, abilities, beliefs, and perspectives of individuals within and outside the Coalition, including providers, co-workers, families and community partners


Education and Experience


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field required

  • One to three years of experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring adults in preschool, early learning or primary education settings required

  • Knowledge of child care quality rating and improvement systems (QRIS) preferred


Environmental Conditions


  • Hybrid work environment with regular travel to early learning providers throughout Duval County

  • Occasional evening and weekend work to support trainings, meetings, and special events

  • Full-time, 40-hour work week, 11-month position

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds


Licenses and Certifications


  • Valid driver's license

  • Current CLASS Observer Certification in Infant, Toddler and PreK age groups required or must obtain within year of start date

  • UF Lastinger Center coaching certification required within one year of start date or when the certification opportunity becomes available
