Job summary

National Academies seeks a Program Officer to coordinate workshops and related activities in neuroscience, neurodegenerative disorders, and drug research and development. You will engage experts from academia, government, industry, and the public to shape evidence-informed workshop products.

Responsibilities include strategy, budgets, schedules, stakeholder engagement, and deliverables, with potential supervision of staff and close collaboration across the National Academies.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of biomedical and health sciences issues.
• Strong program and project management skills (scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables).
• Ability to analyze complex information and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong facilitation skills for expert groups with differing views.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and operate with independence within policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage workshops, meetings, and related projects with a supervisor, ensuring alignment with objectives, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support committee formation and operation; coordinate with chairs and members.
• Conduct background research and prepare/edit papers, summaries, and reports for internal/external audiences.
• May supervise staff and provide day-to-day direction and feedback.
• Plan and implement communications and dissemination activities across websites and social channels.
