Job summary

The OpenAI Foundation is seeking at least two founding Program Officers for the AI Resources portfolio. You will work across operations, grantmaking, research, and strategy, reporting to the team lead.

The role focuses on rethinking AI resilience and building scalable resources for grantees and partners. As part of a small, fast-moving team, you will help design access arrangements, manage partnerships, and advance a mission to harness AI for broad societal benefit with careful risk management

Qualifications

• Doer with generalist range and high execution.
• Ability to translate AI capabilities and risks for diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in grantmaking, philanthropy, or research-funding contexts.
• Strong understanding of AI resilience, safety, or security ecosystem (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to portfolio design for AI Resources, assessing compute needs and market scenarios.
• Scale AI resources to grantees and internal teams.
• Conduct research to inform program strategy and ROI of AI resources.
• Support end-to-end grantmaking including investigations and diligence.
• Identify projects and organizations to build in this space.
• Collaborate with broader AI Resilience team across domains.
