Job summary

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine seeks a Program Officer for the CRTS program area to develop and manage AI, computing, cybersecurity, and related activities. This role collaborates with the Senior Program Director to shape strategies, budgets, and staffing, drawing on deep expertise in computing, policy, and related fields.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of the scientific, technical, or policy issues in cybersecurity, computer science, computer engineering, information science, or related discipline.
• Strong program and project management and facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication abilities with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage one or more programs or projects of moderate complexity in collaboration with the Senior Program Director, including strategies, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans.
• Oversee project finances, authorize expenditures, and ensure compliance with institutional requirements.
• Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies across programs and projects.
• Recruit potential committee and expert-group nominees; assemble appointment packages and coordinate with chairs and members.
• Conduct roundtables, workshops, and other convening activities, prepare written summaries, and provide staff liaison support.
• Write, edit, and support publications; review reports for accuracy, clarity, and effective exposition; respond to reviewer comments.
• Plan and implement extensive communications activities; develop dissemination materials and engage external partners.
• Supervise project or program staff, mentor personnel, and ensure training completion.
