Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) Cancer Clinical Trials Office is seeking a Research Program Manager to develop, implement, manage and evaluate the administrative operations of a research program in Boston, MA. The role collaborates with disease center leaders and CCTO leadership to advance clinical trials and patient care.

The position requires 3–5 years of related experience, a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), and strong Microsoft Office skills for complex document creation

  • 3-5 years related work experience required; 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
  • Experience in Program development and implementation.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access; capable of producing complex documents, performing analysis and maintaining databases.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the administrative resource and liaison for the program, interacting with all levels of personnel.
  • Is knowledgeable in all aspects of assigned trials to evaluate questions and problems.
  • Ensures that all program policies and procedures are developed and up to date.
  • Maintains daily correspondence with team members and external sponsors, archiving records per NIH, FDA, and other regulations.
  • Develops program-specific performance measures and implements data collection processes; reports to working and executive groups.
  • Independently researches information requests and assists with problem resolution.
  • Provides accurate documentation to meet state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees ordering of lab equipment and supplies; works with sales reps for pricing.
  • Directs daily work activities and undertakes employment actions (hiring, termination, etc.).
  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in the department.

This position supports the Cancer Clinical Trials Office (CCTO). The Research Program Manager works closely with disease center leaders and CCTO leadership.

The CCTO provides patients with experimental treatment options that go beyond the standard of care. The Cancer Research Institute’s researchers are responsible for breakthroughs across the spectrum of cancer science, from genetics to signal transduction to RNA medicine and beyond. BIDMC, a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, is a major recipient of funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Job Summary

Develops, implements, manages and evaluates the administrative operations and resources of a research program.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Serves as the administrative resource and liaison for the program, interacting with all levels of personnel, both internal and external.
  • Is knowledgeable in all aspects of assigned trials to be able to evaluate questions and problems.
  • Ensures that all program policies and procedures are developed and up to date.
  • Maintains daily correspondence (via email and phone) with all team members and external study/project sponsors in a professional and timely manner, archiving records of correspondence per NIH, FDA, and/or other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Develops program-specific performance measures to assess effectiveness and success of program components. Implements data collection processes and communicates performance through periodic reports to working and executive groups.
  • Independently researches and follows through on a variety of information requests and assist with problem resolution.
  • Provides accurate, appropriate and timely documentation to meet state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees the ordering of all lab equipment and supplies for all research needs and works with sales representatives to obtain pricing for equipment and supplies.
  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years related work experience required and 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
  • Experience in Program development and implementation.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

  • Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
  • Customer Service: Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned unit(s) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respectful manner.

Pay Range

$65,000.00 USD - $119,995.20 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
