Georgetown University’s Prisons and Justice Initiative seeks a Program Manager for the MORCA-Georgetown Paralegal Program to coordinate daily operations, calendars, MOUs, and paid placements with MORCA, DOES, and SCS. You will work with partner firms, recruit placements, pay participants, and manage emergency funding requests.

This on-campus role reports to the Managing Director, collaborates across offices, and requires strong organization, multi-tasking, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of work experience or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and networking abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate program calendars, MOUs, and partner communications.
  • Recruit law firms and organizations to provide paid placements.
  • Deliver the 20-week in-person program with SCS staff and DOES/MORCA.
  • Ensure participants are paid and manage emergency assistance funds.
  • Plan events, secure speakers, and manage guest fees.
  • Engage alumni for mentoring and tutoring and conduct program evaluation.

Grounded in Georgetown’s commitment to social justice, PJI also serves to engage the wider university community in understanding the causes and responding to the consequences of mass incarceration, one of the most pressing crises of our timeOne such program is the MORCA-Georgetown University Paralegal Program. The Paralegal Program is an educational certificate program for returning citizens in Washington, DC operated in partnership with the DC government Department of Employment Services (DOES) and Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs (MORCA). Participants in the program receive stipends for their time in the program and receive a certificate in paralegal studies from the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies (SCS). At the end of the program, they are placed in one year paid positions with area law firms and organizations.The **Program Manager, MORCA-Georgetown Paralegal Program (PM)**, will provide daily support for the Paralegal Program, and will coordinate closely with DOES, MORCA, and SCS to deliver the program. The PM will help to create calendars/schedules for the program, generate and process MOUs with our partners, help recruit law firms and other organizations to provide paid placements for the program participants, work with PJI and SCS staff to deliver the 20-week program in person, ensure participants are paid, and process emergency assistance funding requests. The PM will plan and execute events related to the program, including securing and paying fees for speakers and other guests. The PM will coordinate with alumni of the program to deliver mentoring and tutoring services to the new cohort of students. The PM will also engage in evaluation of the program during and following each cohort and contribute to future planning discussions internally and with program partners.**Work Interactions**The PM will report to the Managing Director. The PM will work closely with the Finance Manager and the Director of Reentry Services. The PM will collaborate and coordinate with other offices, departments, and schools within Georgetown University, and with the program’s public and private partner organizations (specifically MORCA, DOES, SCS, and area law firms/organizations).
