Job summary

Community College of Allegheny County is seeking a Program Manager for Advanced Life Support (Reg FT) to lead the ALS educational program at the Main Campus. The role ensures compliance with accreditation standards, oversees curriculum management, and coordinates staff and resources to deliver high-quality ALS education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, EMS, Education and four years of related experience in EMS education, training, or emergency services administration.
  • Experience coordinating educational programs and supervising personnel.
  • Experience with accreditation processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Current state Paramedic certification/licensure.
  • Instructor certifications in EMS.
  • Knowledge of ALS educational standards, accreditation requirements, and EMS regulations.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all aspects of the ALS educational program.
  • Ensure compliance with state EMS regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accreditation established by CoAEMSP and other governing agencies.
  • Develop, review, and revise program policies, procedures, and curriculum as needed.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and implement improvements to maintain educational excellence.
  • Coordinate and oversee scheduling of ALS courses and clinical activities.
  • Ensure classes are planned sufficiently in advance to allow student enrollment and staff preparation.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff to finalize class rosters, instructor assignments, and classroom logistics.
  • Ensure all required instructional materials, books, and equipment are available prior to course start dates.
  • Supervise and support instructional staff, coordinators, and support personnel.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to instructors regarding course delivery, student concerns, and compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate instructor development and ensure instructors maintain required certifications and credentials.
  • Conduct meetings and training sessions as necessary.
  • Assist students with program requirements, forms, and academic concerns.
  • Provide guidance, remediation, tutoring, and additional practice opportunities when needed.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate student records.
  • Support student preparation for certification and National Registry examinations.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for accreditation reviews and state audits.
  • Ensure continuing education programs are submitted and approved within required timelines.
  • Maintain accurate program records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Serve as liaison with accrediting agencies, state EMS offices, and affiliated organizations.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports, correspondence, and program documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with students, instructors, supervisors, affiliated agencies, and support staff.
  • Utilize professional oral and written communication skills to ensure accurate information sharing.
  • Performs other related duties as required or as assigned.

Position Title: Program Manager, Advanced Life Support (Reg FT)

Salary Grade: Admin 15 - $62,865

Remote Work Option: Hybrid (May be subject to change)

Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be needed to meet the needs of the department.

General Summary: This position is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, development, and evaluation of the Advanced Life Support educational programs. This position ensures compliance with all applicable state, national, and accreditation standards while maintaining high-quality educational experiences for students, instructors, and affiliated agencies. The Program Director oversees daily program operations, staff coordination, curriculum management, student success initiatives, and equipment and resource management.
