Job summary

National Psychiatric Care and Rehabilitation Services in California seeks an experienced Program Manager to supervise Mental Health Workers, train staff, and provide direct personal care to residents while promoting client well-being through support with instrumental activities of daily living.

The role involves training new hires, assisting residents in daily living, guiding therapeutic activities, coordinating with medical personnel, and ensuring safety and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years in a leadership role preferred but not required.
  • Certifications: Basic First Aid & CPR, Clear California and Federal background checks.
  • A clear criminal record review and fingerprint background check.
  • Successful completion of a negative drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Train new hire Mental Health Workers in everyday functions.
  • Assist residents in daily living activities and train residents in self-care practices.
  • Aid staff in administering therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, arts and crafts, and recreational games.
  • Converses with residents to promote social interaction.
  • Observe, document, and attend to routine health care needs of residents under supervision of medical personnel.
  • Assist residents in taking medication as prescribed.
  • Accompany residents on off-grounds trips, instruct and counsel residents in purchase of items.
  • Follow facility safety guidelines including proper lifting technique and Universal Precautions.
  • Review weekly treatment plans with clients.
  • Work directly with the catering company to discuss daily census.
  • Order facility items on a monthly basis.
  • Support with de-escalating crisis situations.
  • Address patient complaints with the support and guidance of the Program Director.
  • Maintain sufficient facility items in stock and readily available for residents and staff use.
  • Facilitate three groups a week.
  • Cover intake department and provide on-call support as needed.
  • Perform duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Program Manager supervises, assists and trains Mental Health Workers in day-to-day operations and provides direct personal care and supervision to facility staff and residents while promoting client well-being through support with instrumental activities of daily living.

  • Assist residents in taking medication as prescribed.

  • Review weekly treatment plans with clients.
  • Work directly with the catering company to discuss daily census.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Hiring is contingent upon a full background screening in accordance with California licensing regulations; DOJ/FBI clearance, pre-employment physical, and TB clearance. DMV printout and Basic First Aid certification are required prior to employment.

License, Certification, Registration
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Must have an active Driver's License.
  • Must provide proof of vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $30,000 liability.
