Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking a Program Manager to lead a residential substance use treatment program for women in Lee County, Alabama. You will supervise staff, ensure high-quality, person-centered services, and maintain a safe, well‑managed facility.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, staff development, client records review, and direct service provision when needed. A Master’s in behavioral health and Alabama licensure are required; Medicaid eligibility and travel may apply.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in behavioral health with clinical practicum.
• Alabama licensure as LPC, LICSW, or Clinical Psychologist.
• Substance use disorder certification preferred; eligible to obtain within two years if not certified.
• Five or more years of substance use disorder treatment experience preferred.
• Must be eligible to provide Medicaid‑covered services.
• Strong knowledge of substance use disorders and co‑occurring disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead a diverse team of employees.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; MVR required.

Description

The Program Manager provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of a residential substance use treatment program serving women in Lee County. This position is responsible for ensuring the program provides high-quality, person-centered services in a safe, supportive, and well-managed residential environment.

The Program Manager supervises, trains, and supports direct service staff; monitors staff performance and program operations; reviews case plans, client records, and other required documentation; and helps ensure services are provided in accordance with agency policies, program requirements, and applicable standards. The Program Manager also responds to client concerns, facilitates staff and program meetings, assists with resolving day-to-day operational issues, and provides direct services to clients as needed.

This position is ideal for an experienced human services professional who is comfortable leading a team, managing the daily needs of a residential program, and working directly with individuals receiving substance use treatment services. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, able to address concerns professionally, and committed to creating an environment that supports both quality care and staff success.

The residential facility is located in Salem, Alabama, just a few miles outside of Opelika, and primarily serves Lee County.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a behavioral health or related clinical field that included a clinical practicum.
• Current Alabama licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or Clinical Psychologist required.
• Substance use disorder/addiction professional certification preferred. If not currently certified, must be eligible and willing to obtain the required certification within two years of employment.
• Five or more years of experience providing substance use disorder treatment services preferred.
• Must meet applicable eligibility requirements to provide and/or bill for Medicaid-covered services.
• Strong knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment practices, and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, support, and lead a diverse team of employees.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with clients and sensitive information.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
• Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required.

Travel Requirements

Travel between Aletheia House facilities and program locations may be required.

The employee must have reliable personal transportation and be willing to use their personal vehicle for authorized agency business when necessary. Mileage for approved business-related use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed in accordance with agency policy
